3D bewegingssensoren

from concept to highscore

Melexis is a global supplier of micro-electronic semiconductors and stands for engineering that enables the best imaginable future - a future which is safe, clean, comfortable and healthy. In order to demonstrate the capabilities of one of their latest sensors, Melexis tasked us with creating a cool, game-inspired demo device.

As a result, we designed and constructed a virtual skate board entirely in-house, starting from initial concept sketches, comparing 3d models for use of color, crafting wooden prototypes, to welding together the actual skate board.

3D sensor

This is the magnetic 3D position sensor that allows you to capture the skateboard's motion, and control the bee in the videogame.

We then created a coin collector game to show live data of the sensor. By tilting the board into different directions, you’re able to control the flight of a bee, who’s on the hunt for coins in a forest. Simultaneously, the sensor transmits its coordinates to our game control panel.

Electronica Munchen '22

Our game serves the dual purpose of elucidating the capabilities of micro sensors to IT newbs, while remaining sophisticated enough to appeal to seasoned engineers interested in concrete data and statistics.
Our skate demo was showcased and well received at the Electronica '22 trade fair in Munich.
